Sarah graduated from Dalhousie Law School (“Schulich”) in 2012 and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2013. She pursued a career in law because she enjoys taking on new and challenging projects and loves to work with people and ideas. Sarah strives to serve her clients with compassion, excellence, and efficiency.
Sarah was born in Halifax and grew up in Nova Scotia. In 2005 she graduated from Lockview High School and travelled to Hamilton, Ontario, to study science at McMaster University. While attending McMaster, Sarah worked as a lifeguard, swimming instructor, and aquatics co-ordinator. She also served as an executive member of the McMaster Philosopher’s Society. During her summers Sarah returned to Nova Scotia to spend time with family and work as a tour guide at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO). She graduated from McMaster in 2009 with a combined honours degree in Philosophy and Biology.
Following her time in Hamilton, Sarah moved to Halifax to study law at Dalhousie University. She focussed her studies on marine, environmental, and international law and co-chaired the Environmental Law Students’ Society (ELSS) during her senior year. Sarah honed her litigation skills by participating in the Jessup and Smith Shield moots and serving as a member of the Moot Court Committee. She also worked as a research assistant in the areas of mediation and arbitration, and international maritime law. Upon graduation Sarah received a certificate in marine law and was recognized for her skills in leadership, advocacy, and scholarship.
Sarah completed her articles at the law firm of Wickwire Holm in Halifax, where she had the opportunity to assist with a wide range of files. In particular, she gained experience in civil litigation, negotiation, labour and employment, wills & estates, contracts, construction, personal injury, bankruptcy, and business law. During the spring of her articling year, Sarah travelled to Europe to present some of her marine and environmental research at an international conference.
In her spare time, Sarah loves to travel, explore the outdoors, paint, cook, read, and spend time with her friends and family.
